Ph.D. Students
Timothy Murphy
(Ph.D. Candidate, NDSEG Fellow, Breakwell Student Travel Award, Started Fall 2013)
Tim is studying controls and estimation and various topic in orbital mechanics. Tim's research interests include estimation topics related to information and sensor fusion as it applies to Space Situational Awareness. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering at The George Washington University and hails originally from the Philadelphia area. His out of work interests include boardgames and cooking.

Andris Jaunzemis
(Ph.D. Candidate, NSF GRFP Fellow, ICSSA '17 Best Student Paper Award, Started Spring 2014)
Andris is a PhD student in Aerospace Engineering, originally from Baltimore, MD. His research involves the application of optimal control to data association for space situational awareness. In his free time, Andris enjoys playing music and building small electronics products.

Shahzad (Shez) Virani
(Ph.D. Student, NDSEG Fellow, DoD SMART Fellow (declined), Started Fall 2015)
Shez comes from the Atlanta metro area, and focuses his time on wide field-of-view electro-optical sensor control, data reduction, and detecting / tracking space objects.

Julian Brew
(Ph.D. Student, NASA NSTRF Fellow, Started Spring 2016)
Julian is from Stone Mountain, Georgia, and is studying computationally tractable reachability for user-selected subspaces of larger problem.

Jillian Yuricich
(Ph.D. Student, NSF GRFP Fellow, Started Fall 2016)
Jillian is from Hilliard, Ohio, and completed her undergraduate career at The Ohio State University. She majored in Aerospace Engineering and minored in International Studies, Security and Intelligence. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, drawing, reading, hiking, and singing.

Daniel Aguilar Marsillach
(Ph.D. Student, Started Fall 2015

Andrey Pak
(Ph.D. Student, Started Spring 2017)
Andrey is a doctorate student in Robotics (Aerospace Engineering). After obtaining his Masters degree in Computer Vision and Robotics, he worked in Chile under the AFOSR grant on Random Finite Sets for space object tracking. His research interests include multi-target tracking for Space Situational Awareness. Andrey is an amateur photographer and while studying at Tech, he is also planning to get his private pilot certificate.

Matthew Harwood
(Ph.D. Student, Starting Fall 2017)
Matthew is from Jacksonville, FL, and completed a dual B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at University of Florida. During his time away from studies and work, he enjoys distance running, cycling, climbing, backpacking, and the great outdoors. He also likes local eats, alternative rock music, and star gazing

Cesar Santoyo
(Ph.D. Student, NSF GRFP Fellow, NDSEG Fellow (declined), Starting Fall 2017)
Cesar is from St. Petersburg, FL, and studied Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Mathematics at the University of Florida. Outside of work and school, he enjoys swimming, hiking, reading about science, history & finance, and finding unique eateries.

Sam Wishnek
(Ph.D. Student, Starting Fall 2017)
Sam graduated with high distinction from UC Berkeley with majors in physics and astrophysics. He spent two summers interning at Schaeffler and the following three at Northrop Grumman Synoptics. At Synoptics he built optical systems for laser crystal metrology. Sam's research interests include the application of optical systems to spacecraft tracking, guidance, navigation, and control.
