Several months ago at the AAS/AIAA Space Flight Mechanics conference in San Antonio, Prof. Holzinger proposed, organized, chaired, and moderated a panel discussion on Interdisciplinary Challenges in Space Domain Awareness.
The American Astronautical Society (AAS) professional magazine Space Times issue for April / May includes a feature article by Cindy Schumacher covering the panel discussion (link here). Panelists included both newer and established contributors to SDA from government, industry, and academia (in alphabetical order):
-
Prof. Kyle T. Alfriend (University Distinguished Professor, TEES Distinguished Research Professor,Texas A&M University)
-
Dr. Travis Blake (Senior Manager, Lockheed Martin Space Systems)
-
Dr. Douglas Hendrix (CEO, ExoAnalytic Solutions, LLC)
-
Prof. Moriba Jah (Associate Professor, UT Austin)
-
Dr. Paul Schumacher (Principal Investigator in Astrodynamics for Space Situational Awareness for the AFRL Directed Energy Space Surveillance Branch)
During the panel a wide variety of challenges were discussed, and the final question revolved around what new, non-traditional fields should be applied to address Space Domain Awareness challenges.
