OmniSSA nearing completion

The Omnidirectional Space Situational Awareness (OmniSSA) synthetic electro-optical imaging system is nearing completion in our lab.

OmniSSA will allow us to engage in super resolution and frame stacking research in pursuit of improved low-cost Space Domain Awareness research, as well as Near-Earth Object (NEO) detection & tracking and observation of transient astronomical phenomena. It will also enable us to investigate improved information-theoretic methods for optimal signal existence hypothesis testing and spatial resolution parameterizations.

OmniSSA has been designed and constructed in partnership with Dr. Andrew Register in the Electronic Systems group at the Georgia Tech Research Institute.

We are integrating several camera modules this week, and will begin to test the system on the roof of the Howey Physics building over the next several weeks. More pictures soon!
