GT-SORT images Saturn, Titan, and Enceladus

In the midst of calibrating the GT-SORT pointing after rebalancing the telescope, Andris Jaunzems and Midhun Matthew took a large number of "opportunistic" Saturn images (night of September 15). Some images were exposed for longer periods of time, capturing both Titan and Enceladus (left image, overexposing Saturn), while others had short exposures allowing definition of Saturn's rings and other features (right image).

Saturn is presently visible only for a short period of time immediately after sunset, making good imaging difficult. This particular day had less than ideal atmospheric conditions, and the low elevation relative to the horizon meant that the images were particularly affected by atmospheric phenomena. High frame-rate video was also captured, and will be processed using multi-frame blind deconvolution techniques to improve the quality of the image.
